  • TRUMPS TRADE WAR ON !

The White House announced on Saturday that the imposition of tariffs was deemed necessary in order to hold China, Mexico, and Canada accountable for their commitments to stop the influx of harmful drugs into the United States.

Trump slapped tariffs on our friendly neighbors to the north and south, Canada and Mexico, at a whopping 25 percent. However, he was feeling a bit more generous towards Canadian energy, only hitting them with a 10 percent tariff.  That’s still going to raise the price of gas at your pump!

However, Prime Minister Trudeau refuted the notion that the shared border posed a security threat, stating that less than 1% of fentanyl entering the US originates from Canada. He also pointed out that less than 1% of illegal migrants cross the border into the US, emphasizing that tariffs are not the most effective means of collaboration to protect lives.

Economists are expressing considerable concern regarding the potential disruptions these tariffs may create for the U.S. economy. President Trump’s request for the Federal Reserve to reduce interest rates may be complicated by the turmoil induced by these tariffs. Financial markets are expected to be unstable, akin to a house of cards in a windstorm, despite the administration’s assertions of being fundamentally pro-business.

American business groups are not thrilled about these tariffs, with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce calling them a “recipe for decline.” Canada wasted no time in retaliating, slapping their own tariffs on American goods. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is playing hardball, hitting American beer, wine, bourbon, and even household appliances with a 25% tariff. Looks like the trade war has officially begun between these two friendly neighbors.

In a move that is sure to make everyone’s lives more complicated, Canada is also considering levies on lumber, plastics, and even non-tariff measures related to critical minerals and procurement. Because who doesn’t love a good trade war, right?

  • Setting the Record Straight on Tariffs

The Trump administration is gearing up to slap some hefty tariffs on U.S. imports, taking us back to the good ol’ days before World War II.  Trump plans to flex his emergency executive authority muscles by imposing a 25 percent tariff on Canada and Mexico, and a 10 percent tariff on Chinese goods. Because nothing says “Let’s make America great again” like starting a trade war with our closest trading partners, right?

But hey, who needs a fair economy, prosperity for working people, environmental protection, or climate sustainability anyway? Certainly not Trump, because his tariff ideas aren’t about any of that. Nope, they’re just designed to make things more expensive for American consumers and screw over working folks. But hey, at least we’ll all be paying more for stuff, right?

And let’s not forget the potential for retaliation from other countries. Foreign governments and consumers are already sharpening their knives, ready to hit American goods and companies where it hurts. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is all fired up, ready to respond in a “purposeful, forceful but reasonable, immediate” manner if Trump goes through with his threats. Because nothing says “friendly neighbor” like starting a trade war, right?

But hey, who cares about potential consequences, right? A recent study suggests that a trade war with Canada could totally backfire on us. I mean, we export more stuff to Canada than anywhere else, and without all that sweet Canadian energy coming our way, we’d actually have a trade surplus with them. So yeah, let’s just keep poking the bear and see how that works out for us. Sounds like a great plan, right?

Seems our president must have failed Economics 101 in college!

  • Trump Tariffs on the US Economy … Eggs, Groceries, Cars and lots of things will increase!

The Impact of Tariffs on the US Economy

In today’s interconnected global economy, trade plays a crucial role in driving economic growth. However, the use of tariffs – taxes imposed on imported goods – has sparked ongoing debates. While advocates of tariffs argue that they protect domestic industries and jobs, a closer examination reveals that they can actually have detrimental effects on the US economy.

    The Trumps Illusion of Protectionism:

Proponents of tariffs often argue that they shield American businesses from foreign competition, enabling them to flourish and create jobs. While this argument may seem logical at first glance, it fails to consider several key factors. When tariffs are implemented, the immediate consequence is an increase in the prices of imported goods. While this may benefit certain domestic producers, it also results in higher costs for consumers.

For instance, let’s consider a scenario where a tariff is imposed on imported steel. While US steel manufacturers may experience a surge in demand, industries that rely on steel – such as car manufacturers, construction companies, and appliance makers – are now faced with elevated costs. These increased costs are typically passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices for cars, homes, and everyday goods.

The Domino Effect: Retaliation and Trade Wars

One of the major drawbacks of tariffs is the potential for retaliation. When the United States imposes tariffs on goods from other countries, such as Cannda, those countries often respond by imposing tariffs on US exports. This retaliation can escalate into a trade war, creating barriers for businesses involved in both imports and exports. For instance, American farmers may bear the brunt of the impact when other nations target agricultural products with retaliatory tariffs.

These trade wars disrupt supply chains, increase uncertainty, and ultimately harm businesses across various sectors, not just those directly affected by tariffs. Instead of fostering growth, such conflicts often result in job losses and economic stagnation.

The Cost of Choice and Innovation

Tariffs also restrict consumer choice by raising the prices of imports, limiting the variety of products available to American consumers. This restriction stifles competition and can hinder innovation. Businesses shielded from global market competition may become complacent and less inclined to enhance their products or reduce prices.

Moreover, tariffs can reduce overall economic efficiency. When companies are compelled to purchase more expensive domestic goods instead of cheaper, higher-quality imports, their productivity suffers. This decline in productivity can have a ripple effect on the entire economy, making the United States less competitive on the global stage.

The key takeaway is this: although the idea of safeguarding domestic industries may seem appealing, the truth is that tariffs mostly have negative consequences. They result in higher prices for consumers, provoke retaliatory trade conflicts, stifle innovation, and ultimately harm the US economy. It is imperative to transition beyond the superficial allure of tariffs and adopt a more sophisticated and successful strategy towards global trade.

  • “You’re Fired” – did Trump violate the law AGAIN?

President Donald Trump decided to play a little game of “You’re Fired” with more than a dozen inspectors general on Friday. This move raised eyebrows from both sides of the political aisle, as everyone wondered if Trump had bothered to check if his actions were actually legal.

The legal justification for these firings is about as clear as mud. Congress had the foresight to beef up protections for inspectors general in 2022, making it a requirement for the White House to give a 30-day heads up before kicking them to the curb. Oh, and they also have to provide a good reason for the boot.

Now, Trump does have the power to remove these watchdogs, but he’s supposed to follow the rules set by Congress. If he had bothered to follow the law, these inspectors general would have been out of a job by now. But hey, rules are made to be broken, right?

And let’s not forget that Trump is no stranger to legal trouble himself. So, it’s no surprise that he’s playing fast and loose with the rules. But hey, who needs ethics when you’ve going for a grab power, right?

  • Veterans Administration Hospitals Freeze Hiring

Trump is once again proving his dedication to endangering veterans by implementing a new hiring freeze at the V.A. Job offers for new employees with start dates after Feb 8 are being unceremoniously rescinded, leaving some individuals who have already uprooted their lives in limbo. Doctors, nurses, counselors – no one is safe from Trump’s latest antics. Recruitment efforts are grinding to a halt, with job postings disappearing faster than Trump’s approval ratings.

This reckless decision is like throwing a massive hand grenade into the largest healthcare system in America, which just so happens to cater to millions of veterans. But hey, who needs healthcare when you have Trump, right?

Now veterans are experiencing firsthand the same level of care and consideration that police officers received when Trump decided to pardon the violent criminals from the Jan 6 attack. It’s almost as if Trump is playing a twisted game of “who can I disappoint next?”

So congratulations, America! You’re finally getting a taste of what 49% of you wanted. And we say 49% because let’s face it, Trump didn’t exactly win by a landslide. But hey, who needs a mandate when you have Trump at the helm, right?

  • Trump is Anti-Police

The recent Trump pardons of individuals who attacked law enforcement on January 6th, coupled with the lack of pushback from Republican leadership, paints a stark picture. The Republican Party can no longer lay claim to being the party of law and order; under Trump, it has become the party of lawlessness and disorder.

Let’s be crystal clear – Trump has pardoned individuals convicted of killing or assaulting law enforcement officers. This is an undeniable fact. Over 150 police officers from the US Capitol Police and DC Police were injured on January 6th, with the attack resulting in nine deaths.

It is evident that Trump is anti-police. His actions speak louder than words and cannot be disputed. So, the question remains – do all police officers still support Trump and the deafening silence from the Republican Party? Do they possess the moral fortitude to hold their positions in light of these pardons? These are questions that must be asked and answered.

Our challenge to the American MEGA voters is this: if your beloved son, daughter, husband, or wife was courageously serving as a policeman and their brutal attacker was shockingly pardoned by the president … how would that make you feel?

  • President Donald Trump increases Medicare Drug costs!!

On January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump decided to throw a wrench in the works by revoking former President Joe Biden’s executive order 14087. This order was actually trying to do something good – lower the cost of prescription drugs for Americans, especially those on Medicare Part D. But who needs affordable medication, right?

Let’s take a look at what Biden’s executive order was all about:

First up, we had the Medicare $2 drug list model. This little gem was meant to keep certain generic drug prices at a measly $2 for Medicare beneficiaries. How dare they try to make medication affordable for those who need it most?

Then there was the cell and gene therapy access model. This one was all about making high-cost therapies more accessible for Medicaid recipients. Negotiating pricing and facilitating coverage? Outrageous!

Last but not least, we had the accelerating clinical evidence model. This bad boy was focused on getting effective treatments out there faster by streamlining the evidence-gathering process for new drugs. Who needs efficiency when you can have sky-high drug prices instead?

In his executive order back in 2022, Biden had the audacity to say that too many Americans struggle to pay for their prescription drugs. Imagine that! Americans paying two to three times more than people in other countries for the same medications? Shocking, I know.

But fear not, because President Trump is here to save the day! He’s already working hard to make sure drug prices go through the roof, all to keep his billionaire buddies happy. Who cares about the average American struggling to afford their medication when you can cater to the ultra-rich, right?

So, kudos to Trump for showing us once again where his priorities lie. Who needs affordable healthcare when you can have a president looking out for himself and his wealthy pals? Bravo, Mr. President, bravo.

Senior citizens who voted for Trump…enjoy your higher drug prices. You got what you voted for!!!

  • Trumps blatant abuse of power, Jan 6th pardons

President Donald Trump caused significant controversy on Monday night by granting extensive pardons to nearly all individuals charged in connection with the January 6 insurrection, thereby absolving them of their actions aimed at disrupting the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

The FBI has categorized the violent clash as an act of domestic terrorism, resulting in injuries to approximately 140 law enforcement officials. On a national scale, over 1,500 individuals have faced federal charges related to this incident.

The pardons granted by Trump cover all remaining Jan. 6 defendants convicted of crimes related to the Capitol attack, providing them with a full, complete, and unconditional pardon. This move has been met with outrage and disbelief, particularly from those who were injured or lost their lives during the insurrection.

The weapons and objects used by the attackers on the Capitol grounds were truly terrifying, ranging from firearms and tasers to chemical sprays and sharp-edged weapons like knives, axes, and even a sword. Over 1,000 individuals have pleaded guilty in connection to the events of Jan. 6, with some facing misdemeanors and others facing felonies. Shockingly, 10 individuals were convicted of seditious conspiracy after contested trials.

As we witness this blatant abuse of power and the erosion of democracy, it is clear that the lawlessness has only just begun. We must brace ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead and pray for the safety of our nation as we navigate these turbulent times.

  • Today we protest!

Today, we are addressing the significance of a flag being displayed in an inverted position. In May 2024, images surfaced of an inverted flag outside the residence of Justice Samuel Alito on Jan. 17, 2021, shortly after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.

Historically, flags were predominantly utilized at sea rather than on land. This was due to the necessity of identifying ships in open waters, where determining nationality was crucial. During times of conflict, distinguishing between friend and foe was vital, whether the threat came from a foreign nation or a pirate vessel. Nick Garren has proposed that the act of flying a flag upside down initially served as a distress signal for ships, evolving into a symbol of political dissent over time.

The act of displaying the U.S. flag upside down as a form of protest has been documented for over five decades. As we witness the inauguration of Trump today, similar to the protests seen by Trump supporters during Biden’s inauguration in 2020, and their attack on the capital on January 6th, we express our belief that our nation is facing significant turmoil and distress.

  • Empty promises and flashy rhetoric. They start on January 20th.

Trump made a grandiose promise to lower grocery prices during his campaign, but surprise, surprise, it seems like it was all just a bunch of lies to win votes. I mean, who would have thought? It’s not like he was saying this when the economy was booming or anything. People just love to vote based on their feelings rather than facts. Reading is hard, apparently.

“From the day I take the oath of office, we’ll rapidly drive prices down and make America affordable again,” Trump declared confidently to his supporters in North Carolina. “Prices will come down. You just watch. They’ll come down fast.” Spoiler alert: they didn’t and Trump now says they will not. .

After winning the election, TIME magazine had the audacity to ask Trump if his presidency would be a failure if grocery prices didn’t decrease. “I don’t think so,” Trump responded, before awkwardly backtracking on his promise. “I’d like to bring them down. It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard.”

Just days after the election, the Associated Press reported that many economists believed Trump’s plans, like tariffs on imported foods and deporting undocumented workers, could actually cause food prices to rise. Shocking, right?

Only about 2 in 10 Americans are confident that Trump will actually make progress on lowering grocery prices, housing costs, or healthcare expenses. But hey, who needs affordable groceries when you have a reality TV star as president, right?

It’s disappointing to see how easily some people can be swayed by empty promises and flashy rhetoric. It’s a reminder of the importance of critical thinking and doing thorough research before putting our trust in any political figure. Hopefully, this serves as a lesson for future elections, and voters will be more discerning in their choices. As citizens, we have the power to hold our leaders accountable and demand transparency and honesty in their actions.
