Oh, how exciting! The vote for Speaker of the House was 218-215. Just three votes the other way and we could have had a Democratic Speaker. But no, the Republicans narrowly squeaked by. Looks like they’ll have to govern without a clear mandate for those extreme MAGA proposals they love so much.
And let’s not forget about Trump’s victory this fall – a whopping 1.5%. Definitely not a resounding mandate to lead America down a MAGA path. In fact, his election was the fifth smallest out of thirty-two presidential races since 1900. Impressive, right?
So, as the Republicans pop the champagne and pat themselves on the back, let’s remember they didn’t win over all of America, just the slimmest of questionable majorities. But hey, who needs a clear mandate when you can govern with such a tiny margin of victory, am I right?
