The Authoritarian Playbook: Inside Trump’s Desperate Scheme to Deport Rep. Ilhan Omar Before the Election

by Winston Wendell

With the election approaching, the desperation within the Trump administration has reached a new low. According to recent reports and statements from the publication, the administration is currently plotting to remove naturalized congresswoman Ilhan Omar from office and deport her.

Let me remind readers that according to her agent, Jackie Rogers, Omar’s representative, the allegations have no basis in law.

It is apparent to everyone that the administration is engaging in anti-Muslim bigotry and is using scare tactics ahead of the election.

The reason for this is that the Trump campaign believes it is highly likely to be defeated badly in the upcoming election. Therefore, the bigoted candidates are using every available tool to stoke anti-Muslim sentiment among voters. Consequently, the radical right’s open attacks on the largest Muslim-American constituency in the country are being carried out.

The fact that the federal government is willing to intimidate voters by threatening to deport elected officials shows us the importance of voting.

Earlier, federal agents searched the congresswoman’s residence at the initiative of the Trump administration. The reason for the search, according to the authorities, was an order to investigate the false accusation that Omar falsified documents when she naturalized as a citizen. In fact, this accusation does not have any basis in reality. Nevertheless, Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the American Immigration Council says that even if the documents were fake, it would take years to remove Omar from office through proper channels.

Trump has been waging a public campaign against Ilhan Omar. The fact that a prominent politician and a member of the oppressed nation is targeted with such determination and persistence can be considered a coherent attempt to remove Omar from office with the help of scare tactics and illegal methods.
